Beth,
This is another sweet Chris Ferrie book。 The pictures and explanations are appropriate for the 2-3 target age group。 I appreciate the artwork of the germs and the different faces of the healthy and sick persons, the doctor and others。 I liked how the author and artist described the various depths of looking closely at a sick person showing looking by stethoscope (closely), magnifying glass (really closely) then microscope (really, really closely)。Recommend。 Thank you Sourcebooks Early Reads。

This is my favorite of the Baby University titles that I have read so far。 It is very clear and concise, and shares information about germs in a direct, uncomplicated way that will not go over small children's heads。 I found it fascinating that the author explained at the beginning that people used to think that illnesses arose from miasma。 He quickly and clearly explains what this means, and since I didn't fully understand this outdated medical theory until I read some footnotes in Jane Eyre This is my favorite of the Baby University titles that I have read so far。 It is very clear and concise, and shares information about germs in a direct, uncomplicated way that will not go over small children's heads。 I found it fascinating that the author explained at the beginning that people used to think that illnesses arose from miasma。 He quickly and clearly explains what this means, and since I didn't fully understand this outdated medical theory until I read some footnotes in Jane Eyre years ago, I was impressed。This board book is a great introduction to understanding germs, and will have continuing relevance and appeal even after the COVID-19 pandemic is history。 The illustrations and text are crystal clear and easy for the smallest children to understand, and kids who are slightly older but still willing to read board books can benefit from this as well。 。。。more
